A private Mass of Christian Burial was held at Holy Family Church, Oglesby with Rev. Paul Carlson, pastor officiating. Private burial took place in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Leonore. Arrangements were entrusted to Prey-Mueller Funeral Home, Oglesby. Mr. Schmitt was born November 19, 1938 in LaSalle to Leonce and Clara (Pflibsen) Schmitt. He graduated from Marquette High School, Ottawa. He worked at International Harvester, Ottawa and later at the Tonica Schools. Dean was a member of Holy Family Church, Oglesby and the Knights of Columbus, Oglesby. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
